However, Hitler was not a drinker
Synopsis
Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister responsible for public support for the Holocaust and the war Hitler started. During a meal on November 9, 1938, Hitler is seen with a glass of beer. Adolf Hitler: [To Magda Goebbels during a meal] It is because of people like you that I print skulls on cigarette packs to ban smoking. Smoking is just as bad as the animal carcasses that you enjoy so much, and I cannot talk you out of it. Scene with Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer near the end..
The acting was very good
Features: Olympia 1. Teil – Fest der Völker (1938). This film is based on true facts that are very historically relevant. This brings into focus several important events that took place during World War II. However, I have to say that the actor who played Hitler unfortunately does not come close to what we saw in the film “Der Untergang”.
They also made mistakes
The props, costumes, buildings, etc. are from the 1930s and 40s. It’s clear that a lot of effort was put into this. They make basic mistakes, such as using the names St. Petersburg and Leningrad, when they should have only used the latter.
shaking hands – in the bunker scenes
Other mistakes include Adolf Hitler not showing signs of Parkinson’s disease – i.e. Personally, I think this may have something to do with the too short time and low budget to depict so many impressive historical events. Therefore, I can only rate this film 6.3/10, which results in a 6-star IMDb rating. Nevertheless, I advise anyone who is interested in what happened during World War II to watch this film. Until there is a better alternative, this is still the best way to get an idea of the importance – and propaganda use – of Joseph Goebbels during World War II.
Because a 2-hour film really seems too short to cover a topic like Goebbels during World War II
However, I hope that in the future we can see a mini-series that gives the viewer a better insight into the use of propaganda during World War II.
